Naty Serrano is the communications and advocacy coordinator at the Ecumenical Research Department (DEI), a Latin American center based in San José, Costa Rica, that has promoted critical thinking and transformative action from an ethical-political and spiritual perspective since 1977.
The DEI has established itself as a meeting place for social organizations, faith communities, communities, and academia, guided by the social sciences, liberating spiritualities, liberation theologies, and popular education. From an ecumenical and liberating perspective, its mission is to contribute to integral well-being, social justice, and the defense of human rights and the rights of nature.
Among its projects are the Training Program (with socio-theological workshops, popular Bible reading seminars, and the PASOS magazine ) and the psychosocial support program, which integrates the subjective, political, and emotional aspects. Through Casa DEI , they offer shelter and support to human rights defenders at risk. Additionally, the communications department promotes hopeful narratives with initiatives such as the podcast Diálogos Unpensados .
From these spaces, Naty and the DEI team weave networks of resistance, spirituality, and transformation in Latin America and the Caribbean.
